Subject: RE: Steel Plate Wood Stoves - Back In The Day

There was one in our house when we bought the place in 1991. Steel plate lined with firebrick. It would keep the house warm except on the real cold days with highs in 20’s or lower. A couple years ago we replaced it with a cast iron stove. Does the same job on less wood. I would choose cast iron over steel if given the choice. Creosote has not been a problem with either. As OC said, need dry wood.
