Also, just because he says his dogs a fine doesn't mean everyone else knows.
I've hauled cattle from places that the dog wants to be friends with some, and then will growl at the next driver. If you don't know the dog how do you know how it is going to react when you open the door. Doesn't even matter if the owner says it's okay.
