12-20 lbs/ acre. I’d plant roundup ready seed. This should last you longer and means to keep weeds down. Here in se Nebr dad use to plant in mid august after wheat had been harvested. Mainly so it would get good start before it got to cold. Also alfalfa needs at least 3 leaves after planted so it doesn’t freeze off.
