We always wanted under 60 percent , closer to 50 was better……the juice will eat away your silo and leak all over if too wet.
You will struggle feeding enough not to spoil with only 10 animals I fear, or it will freeze up easier in winter if you don’t remove enough.


Thanks Dave. Yeah, really don't want acidic juice all over the feed room and doors. Plus, this silo was probably filled only 2 or 3 times after the replaster job, I would not want to pay for that anytime soon.

As for the spoilage, thats why I was curious. If I had a larger diameter silo than 12 feet, I would for sure need to remove more silage daily to keep from spoiling and would not work for 10 animals. Guess I will have to try it for a season and see how it goes. Might be the 1 and only time I fill the silo. Thanks
