Subject: RE: would you force your kid to...?

Iroquois County
Went thru similar to this when my son was 9 and playing his first year in fast pitch little league baseball. He took a fastball to the jaw and the 10 year old was a top pitcher. He wanted to quit. I didn’t let him. He said he wasn’t playing next year and I told him that was fine but he was finishing the year. Was not easy watching him shake in the batters box. End of season, I told him he did something most adults don’t do and that is face their fear. He found his passion and it was playing guitar and is 30 years old and still takes lessons by Skype from a touring rock band big name guitarist and also teaches guitar to kids at School of Rock in Knoxville, TN one night per week after working his FedEx job. Not sure today if I did the right thing but at the time I told him you finish what you started if you are capable. And he did.
