This!! I took over a family farm and now 63 have beat myself up on how to pass it on even though my wife and I have worked at reduced pay (like the above post says and he was spot on too) and own no land as nothing was done to help continue the legacy. Have come to realize I have done all I could and farm is in better shape now than when I took over. If the parents were concerned on continuing the family farm, things would have been set up to do so and plans communicated early. There is some good info here. Big, big decision to be made but bottom line is if a legacy is to be continued, it takes a plan from those in ownership to make it happen and secure it. Good luck.
