<p>Table tennis would be fun.

I learned to shift 3/4/etc speed stick-shifts in car transmissions, then driving a traditional farm truck, and had experiences with backing up boat-trailers. The transition to shifting a semi-truck with 10/13/16 speeds was not an issue; in less than several hours of drive-time, I had learned how to shift a 10 speed hooked to a Detroit 238, and backing up was a piece of cake.

But now with automatic transmissions in cars, most, if not all, students have a much longer learning curve for shifting and backing up. How about backing up for 1/2 mile, due to a road blockage...been there, done that, no problem. Try that with a newbie CDL driver, or even in a car at say 10mph.

Point is our brains should be exercised in different ways. "Use it or lose it" as they say. "The idiom "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" means that it's difficult or impossible to teach someone new skills or change their ways, especially if they've been doing something the same way for a long time."

Hence, 'Variety's the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavour'....
