Cant quit during a season, he will be made fun of constantly by everyone on the team, and at practices he will the but of every joke from the coaches, You all might not want to believe, trust me it happens, the coaches are probably the worst
I guess if that's the typical environment I probably wouldn't want my kid playing anyhow........
